MADONNA, FRANZ HEAT UP COACHELLA

MADONNA, FRANZ FERDINAND, TOOL, the YEAH YEAH YEAHS and last-minute addition KANYE WEST brought the heat at this weekend's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the desert of Indio, California. Pop diva Madonna's set stirred up controversy at the indie-heavy fest, inspiring a t-shirt worn by a few attendees that read "Madonna killed Coachella." "This is my first festival," Madonna told the crowd. "Now who's going to share their drugs with me?" Performers with indie cred included metal act WOLFMOTHER, reggae rising stars DAMIAN MARLEY and MATISYAHU, and hip-hoppers GNARLS BARKLEY. Hard rockers Tool, who closed out the event, debuted a chunk of their upcoming album, "10,000 Days," including the ultra-heavy lead single, "Vicarious." When frontman MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN asked the crowd "Had enough?," the masses called out, "No!"
